Things to do with your child this school holiday

24 Nov 2017

The year-end school holidays are here! What better way to spend it than to head out and have some quality time with your entire family. As always, there would be an abundant array of activities lined up for children all across the island, but our tastes differ and not everything is for everyone. Out of the many, we’ve hand-picked three of our top choices, including some of our own activities, to cater to different preferences.

1. For Arts & Entertainment

The Sound of Music

Relive your childhood memories while introducing your children to the artistry of classic musicals by taking them to the Sound of Music, playing at the Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands from 7 November till 3 December. The original 1959 Broadway production of the musical had won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the 1965 movie starring Julie Andrews as Maria won five Oscars, including Best Picture.

What better way to expose your children to the arts?!

My Little Pony

When was the last time you’ve had a family day out at the cinema? If you’ve been looking for a movie that caters to everyone in the family, look no further – My Little Pony is here. Do not be surprised to see a crowd of adults in the same cinema as your little girls watching My Little Pony: The Movie. There’s something about Pony magic that cuts across all genders and ages.

Journey with the Mane 6 (lovely pun indeed!) – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity – as they team up to save Ponyville from evil forces. As testament to its production value (and if you are considering whether it is worth your time), the animated movie features the voice talents of British actress and mum, Emily Blunt, and Australian singer-songwriter Sia.

Screening starts from November onwards. Check out your nearest cinema or the website www.mylittlepony.movie for more details on showtimes and dates.

Go Green! Embrace the gifts nature has to offer with your child.

We hope you will seize the opportunity to expose your child to as many beneficial activities as possible during these holidays. It would definitely strengthen your parent-child bond, while imparting soft skills to them such as cooperation, sharing, and how to conquer obstacles. Have a great school holiday!
