Andy Kuek is the Head of our GEP Prep Lab & High Ability Growth Programmes. With more than 14 years of dedicated experience, Teacher Andy stands as our distinguished GEP Expert. A MOE Secondary Asean Scholar in his younger days, he has helped many students qualify for the GEP. Andy's teaching style, brimming with motivation and spirited enthusiasm, has not only inspired, but also stretched the potential of the hundreds of students he has tutored over the years.

Mrs Shum is a caring teacher who is concerned about her students and their well-being. She has helped me improve in my English and has always been very caring towards me. She stresses on our mental health and has encouraged us a lot. Her teaching is amazing and i love how she shares interesting facts related to the topic we were studying and she exposed us to the basics of general paper too. To add, Mrs Shum gives specific feedback on our work which allowed us to know what we can improve on. The MS comprehension worksheets were also of great help as they allow me to know how to answer certain questions in a straightforward manner. Mrs Shum marks quite strictly which also further prepared me well for the O-levels where the marking is usually more lenient. As a result, I learnt how to do better and could gauge where i stand. Mrs Shum also made me realise that i was better in personal recount essays which allowed me to do well in the O-levels. The Mind Stretcher GEP Preparatory Programme has helped me; for English, it has helped me with finding clues in the cloze passages which I initially found quite hard to find. But after my teacher taught me, at the end of the 10 sessions, I felt that I’d mastered the skill. For Vocabulary, I learnt about, a 100 new words from the GEP Prep sessions. Around half of those words were used in the GEP Selection Test. Without Mind Stretcher’s training I would not have been able to narrow down the options given in the Vocabulary section. The Math lessons were also beneficial for all the students as we were able to ask questions and interact with one another. For the General Ability paper, the question types were almost identical to those I was given at Mind Stretcher which made me feel like I had adapted to answering them

I attended the P3 GEP Prep Lab and the Bootcamp for both English and Maths last year, just about when the pandemic struck. I would like to thank Mr Andy for everything - encouraging us to try again when we make mistakes, giving us one detailed explanation after another and an occasional entertaining joke here and there. On my very first Mind Stretcher lesson at West Campus for Math, I realized that the GEP Prep Lab curriculum was not a cakewalk. The topic tree planting was especially hard for me. However, I was fortunate to have passionate educators like Mr Din, my English teacher, who shared with me fantastic words and phrases that helped me alot in my cloze passage and Mr Aziz, my Maths teacher, who taught me terrific Maths concepts such as remainder problems. Without them, I would have never passed round 2 of the GEP Selection Test.

FAQs

During the session, you can pose the questions in the webinar "Q&A" box or chat and our teachers will reply to you. If the question is commonly asked, our teachers will address it 'live'.
There will also be intervals throughout the session (depending on time) that parents and students may be asked to raise their hands and ask questions 'live'.
At the end of each session, you can also stay around to ask questions.

You may wish to keep a notebook around for taking down useful pointers shared by our Master Teachers and speakers.
