Journey through our Primary English course
Our Primary 1 and 2 English Programme helps students to cultivate an appreciation of the English language, and develop a robust foundation across the key areas of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Students will gain a repertoire of new vocabulary and learn basic grammar rules.
We will also lay the initial groundwork for students to become effective orators and writers over time. They will build confidence in public speaking through classroom discussions and our Show-and-Tell component, and pick up fundamental writing skills, which include techniques on how to brainstorm and develop storylines in a creative and imaginative manner.
At the Middle Primary level, students will sharpen their foundational skills acquired from Lower Primary. Students will expand their library of vocabulary with our Mind Stretching Vocabulary list, and build upon their proficiency in grammar to effectively manipulate and transform sentences. They will be introduced to a broad range of narrative and information-based text types, to train their ability to analyse implied meaning, and respond critically.
Students will continue to hone their skills in communicating effectively, both in the spoken and written form. With the help of proprietary frameworks such as R.E.A.P and P.E.E.R.S, they will acquire good practices in reading fluently, and communicating their ideas in a structured and coherent manner. They will also be trained to effectively brainstorm, structure, and enliven their essays with writing techniques reinforced through our regular writing tasks.
Our Primary 5 and 6 Programme will gear students up for the PSLE, and equip them with exam-smart techniques and skills to ace the examinations. Students will master core grammar rules, and continue to strengthen their knowledge of vocabulary, which will enable them to tackle multiple sections of the English paper more effectively.
Students will become well-acquainted with trending PSLE composition themes and common mistakes made by students in the examinations. They will reinforce their techniques in analysing composition questions, and brainstorming storylines, and acquire more tools to ace their writing tasks, through the use of impressive opening hooks and good vocabulary phrases demonstrated through model essays. Through continuous practice with our R.E.A.P and P.E.E.R.S framework, students will also master the skill of communicating effectively, and differentiate themselves from their peers in the oral examinations.
