The Final 3 Months:PSLE Strategic Preparation

For the final 3-month sprint to PSLE, our Primary 6 lessons move fully into exam preparation, with an intensive Last Lap Bootcamp over the September holidays and cher.ai for expert-quality feedback on composition, reading aloud and listening, the components where good feedback and practice were once hard to come by.

Over the years we have correctly anticipated many of the topics PSLE goes on to test and prepared our students for them. It is why families trust us with several subjects for the final lap.

What we cover in the last 3 months

1

Exam-ready frameworks, banks and model answers

Model compositions, full oral responses, ready-to-use vocabulary banks for the commonly-tested themes and answer frameworks for every paper, distilled from the year and ready to deploy straight in the exam.

Oral: Reading Aloud & Stimulus-Based Conversation

  • Oral Exam Hacks covering both tasks: the R.E.A.P. reading framework and the PACT preparation routine for Reading Aloud, plus the PEERS framework for Stimulus-Based Conversation.
  • A bank of the commonly-tested conversation themes, such as Family & Friendship, Environment and Health & Wellness, each with ready-to-use vocabulary and full model responses.

Composition: Paper 1 Continuous Writing

  • Annotated model compositions for the narrative topics PSLE keeps returning to, such as Showing Kindness, Gaining Confidence and A Regretful Action, each broken down for technique with its own vocabulary.
  • Descriptive-language notes for the situations compositions most often call for, from fear and an accident to a struggle in the water or an imminent storm.

Situational Writing: Paper 1

  • Emails and letters on the PAC framework (Purpose, Audience, Context), with full formats for each scenario, plus article-writing notes.
  • Worked model answers for each format: a formal email, an informal letter and a school-website article.

Vocabulary & spelling: Paper 2 and composition

  • Mind-Stretching Vocabulary and Phrases Booklets and Mind-Stretching Words and Phrases Lists: vivid expressions, idioms and a wide range of vocabulary that enhance compositions and support the Paper 2 components.
  • A Word Power Booster built into every comprehension and cloze passage, drilling the precise words PSLE tests and choosing the one that fits the context.
  • The Commonly Misspelt Words list for the spellings PSLE most often catches out.

Synthesis & Transformation: Paper 2

  • The full set of notes covering each question type: reported speech, cause-and-effect and purpose connectors, word-form transformations and contrast and time connectors.
2

Concentrated drilling on every question type

High-volume targeted practice tightening accuracy and speed before the exam.

  • PSLE Booster Sets for intensive mixed practice.
  • PSLE Practice Sets spanning every Paper 2 question type: comprehension (open-ended and visual text), editing, cloze, grammar, vocabulary and Synthesis & Transformation.
  • A weekly Homework Booster rotating through a different component each week.
3

Full mock exams under real conditions

Full papers under real exam conditions, so your child rehearses time management and pacing ahead of the Prelims and PSLE.

Oral & ListeningRarely practised

  • 1-to-1 Oral mock examination: Reading Aloud and Stimulus-Based Conversation with model answers.
  • Listening Comprehension exam: a full preliminary Listening paper, a component students seldom practise.

Written papers

  • Preliminary Paper 1 (Writing) and Paper 2 (Language Use & Comprehension), sat under timed conditions.
1

PSLE whole-syllabus drills & revision

The bulk of the final lap is drilling: first one topic at a time, then mixed papers that jumble every topic together at PSLE difficulty.

Phase 1 · Topical drills

  • Every PSLE topic re-covered in turn, each in MCQ, short-answer and long-answer format, drilling the commonly-tested question types and concepts of each topic.
  • Consolidated revision notes pulling the core concepts and methods of every topic into one reference.

Phase 2 · Mixed & trending drills

  • Topic Quizzes of mixed-topic, long-answer questions that span all topics at once, built from the toughest and most current PSLE-style problems.
  • A weekly Homework Booster of mixed-topic questions keeps every topic warm so revising one does not mean forgetting another.
2

Problem-sum methods: the Power Codes

The final lap drills the problem sums with the Power Codes, so your child meets the toughest Paper 2 questions with an approach they can rely on with confidence.

  • Power Codes are a suite of named methods, each a step-by-step template for a particular type of problem sum. Your child learns to read the clues in a question, match it to the right code and follow the method rather than guessing.
  • The final lap drills the high-value ones for Paper 2, such as Guess and Check, the Assumption method, the Model method, Before-Change-After, One Unchanged and Equal Fraction for ratio and fraction problems.
3

Full mock exams under real conditions

Full papers under real exam conditions, so your child rehearses time management and pacing ahead of the Prelims and PSLE.

Two full prelim rounds

  • Complete Paper 1 and Paper 2, then a second full round, each followed by an error-analysis session that fixes mistakes before they repeat.
1

PSLE whole-syllabus drills & revision

The whole syllabus re-covered repeatedly through full mixed-topic papers, building the volume of drills and cross-theme exposure PSLE demands.

Whole-syllabus revision papers

  • 10–11 Revision Papers of mixed-topic, PSLE-style questions, designed to build content mastery and exam stamina. Each focuses on both conceptual and experiment-based questions, training students on variables, data interpretation and the exact answering techniques required for full marks in structured questions.
  • A weekly Homework Booster of extra MCQ and open-ended practice keeps concepts and answer technique sharp between papers.

Common mistakes & misconceptions cleared

  • Dedicated Concept Papers focus purely on the specific wrong answers students habitually give, with concrete corrections grouped by topic, such as Forces (mass versus weight), Water (the white "steam" above a kettle is actually tiny water droplets from condensation) and Energy (not lost but converted).
2

Open-ended questions: topic-specific templates & AIR framework

The harder half of the paper, where most marks are lost. PSLE rewards precise, structured phrasing, drilled here with the exact templates.

Topic-specific keywords & answer templates

  • Heat & temperature: "heat travels from the hotter object to the colder object"; objects gain or lose heat, so their temperature rises or falls.
  • Evaporation & cooling: "water on the surface gains heat and evaporates; the body loses heat and its temperature decreases".
  • Forces & friction: "friction opposes motion and acts in the direction opposite to movement".
  • Energy conversion: name the conversion in full, for example "kinetic energy is converted to heat and sound energy due to friction".
  • Magnets & electromagnets: "like poles repel, unlike poles attract"; for an electromagnet, "when the switch is closed, current flows through the coil and the iron core becomes a magnet".
  • Electricity: describe circuits as "open" or "closed", and explain brightness through electric current.
  • Plant systems & photosynthesis: photosynthesis needs light, carbon dioxide and water; water reaches the leaves through the water-carrying tubes.

Experiment-based question templates

  • Fixed answer templates for any experiment-based question: the aim, the changed, measured and constant variables, the fair test and the control set-up.
  • The relationship statement (one trend for one mark, two trends with the figures for two), a testable hypothesis and repeating to improve reliability. These templates appear as a weekly reference page, so the structure becomes automatic.

AIR answer framework

  • The AIR framework structures every open-ended answer in three parts: Answer (the direct answer to the question), Information (the core science fact, rule or principle being tested) and Reasoning (linking that information back to the scenario in the question to explain why).
  • It pairs with the CCC framework (Command Word, Concept, Context) for unpacking what a question is really asking before the answer is written.
3

Full mock exams under real conditions

Full papers under real exam conditions, so your child rehearses time management and pacing ahead of the Prelims and PSLE.

Preliminary Examination

  • A full 100-mark Preliminary Examination covering all P3 to P6 topics under timed conditions (1h 45min), with a corrections and analysis session afterwards.
1

Exam-ready frameworks, banks and model answers

Model essays, model spoken responses, ready-made phrase and vocabulary banks and named answer-method frameworks, distilled from the year and ready to deploy straight in the exam.

Oral: Reading Aloud & Conversation (朗读 & 会话)

  • Graded reading-aloud passages marked on the real PSLE rubric, in both pinyin and non-pinyin versions.
  • A bank of the commonly-tested PSLE conversation themes (会话), such as sport, caring for the environment and screen use, each with its own vocabulary list, model fill-in answers and full model spoken responses (范例回答), plus an emotion-word bank for the "how would you feel" questions and a reusable template for the recurring "how should the school" suggestion question.

Composition: Picture & Title (看图作文 & 命题作文)

  • Annotated model essays (范文) for the PSLE commonly-tested themes, such as a good deed, owning up to a mistake and an accident, marked up for technique.
  • The S.T.A.R. framework (Say, Think, Act, React) with good-words-and-phrases banks (好词好句) panel by panel, opening and ending templates, model emotion paragraphs and the composition marking rubric.

Vocabulary & dictation (词语复习 & 听写)

  • Lesson-by-lesson review of the P5 and P6 textbook vocabulary, each word with its pinyin, meaning and an example, plus a weekly spelling-revision sheet.
  • Near-synonym discrimination banks for the precise word-choice pairs PSLE tests, such as 贡献/奉献, 严格/严厉 and 储存/存放.
  • Weekly dictation and reading-aloud practice keeps spelling accurate and reading fluent, plus a Homework Booster (强化练习) rotating across pinyin, word collocation, word-choice cloze, error correction and phrase-fill exercises.

Comprehension toolkits (阅读理解工具包)

  • Step-by-step methods for answering each comprehension question: the seven answering methods for phrasing answers, the three-step method for MCQ and the six question types for the open-ended paper.
  • The character and moral question template with its mark allocation, plus emotion and character-trait vocabulary tables.
2

Specialised revision on real PSLE questions (专题复习)

Section-by-section revision worked directly on actual PSLE (会考) style questions.

Comprehension & composition

  • Comprehension drilled on real PSLE-style passages: narrative comprehension (阅读理解一, MCQ), functional texts and written interaction (二A组) and the high-mark open-ended passages (二B组), revised with a Comprehension Question Types Summary that sorts questions by skill and where the answer sits, such as answers spread across paragraphs or in a different paragraph from the keyword.
  • A picture-composition focused segment (看图作文) built around the scoring criteria, with full model answers (参考答案) and a Picture Composition Past-Year Summary grouping past PSLE topics by theme and drilling them with past exam questions.

Language use & written interaction

  • Language use (语文应用), cloze (短文填空) and dialogue completion (完成对话) practised as focused sets.
  • The three-step method for the written-interaction task (书面互动): read the question, select the content and rewrite it into a fluent paragraph, with model scaffolds.
3

Full mock exams under real conditions

Full papers under real exam conditions, so your child rehearses time management and pacing ahead of the Prelims and PSLE.

Oral & ListeningRarely practised

  • 1-to-1 Oral mock (口试模拟): reading-aloud and video-stimulus conversation on the real rubric, with technique for the 10-minute preparation time.
  • Listening mock (听力模拟测验): a full standalone paper across the real spread of text types.

Paper 1 & Paper 2

  • Paper 2 mock (试卷二, 90 min) across all six sections, including the 4-mark written-interaction task (书面互动) and the high-mark open-ended comprehension (阅读理解二B组).
  • Paper 1 composition mock (看图作文, 50 min) marked on the composition rubric, with a review session.
